# Texa Desk Application API

The helpdesk's own API. Conversations, messages, contacts, inboxes, agents, teams, labels, reports and settings, as a person in your team.

```text
https://desk.texadesk.com/api/v1/accounts/{account_id}
```

`{account_id}` is the number after `/accounts/` in Texa Desk's address. Every request carries an
access token in the `api_access_token` header:

```bash
curl https://desk.texadesk.com/api/v1/accounts/1/conversations \
  -H "api_access_token: $TEXA_DESK_TOKEN"
```

- **A person's token** (Texa Desk → **Profile settings → Access token**) acts as that person, with
  their role's permissions and only the inboxes and teams they see. For an integration, add a
  person for it with a custom role that has only what it needs.
- **An agent bot's token** works on the conversations of the bot's inboxes: messages, status,
  assignment. See [agent bots](/desk/agent-bots).

Texa Desk is built on the open-source Chatwoot helpdesk, and this API keeps its shape, so tools
written for it work with a Texa Desk address and token. Texa's own additions are the
[Tickets API](/api-reference/desk-texa), the [customer portal](/api-reference/portal), and the
`ticket` on every conversation.

## Webhooks

The events of all of this arrive as [Texa Desk webhooks](/guides/desk-webhooks).
